Welcome to Dotted i - The INFLUENTIAL BLOG

Updated: Mar 30, 2022

Welcome to my blog!

My name is Heather Macaulay and I have been writing professionally since 2010, even earlier if you count the time I scrambled up our High School graduation speech for the frantic Class President mere moments before he stepped up to the podium.

I’ve worked with businesses and nonprofits from coast to coast, taking on anything and everything from fundraising campaigns, blogs and web content, marketing collaterals for executives and students, communiques, white papers, and thousands of successful grant proposals to local, national, and global funders. I’ve learned from both wild successes and epic fails along the way, and I’m excited to share tips of the trade that I’ve acquired in my journey as a professional freelance writer.

What you can expect from my blog:

I’ve designed Dotted i to be a resource for aspiring grant writers, copy writers, and anyone interested in pursuing a career in writing that sells. Dotted i will share grant writing and copy writing tips, tools, and insights to enhance your writing, influence your audiences, and achieve your goals. In addition to the nuts and bolts of writing winning content, I’ll share strategies for starting and sustaining a successful freelance writing business.

I love meeting other established and aspiring writers. If you have any questions or just want to chat, feel free to reach out!

About Heather Macaulay:

First and foremost I am a proud wife and mom of 3 growing souls who I have miraculously kept alive despite killing every plant I’ve ever owned. I was born and raised in Orange County, California, and while I will always be a California girl at heart, North Carolina is where the Macaulay family has called home since 2015. I cannot say enough about what this wonderful community has offered us. I have been writing grants and copy since 2010 and have had projects funded by a variety of funders from family foundations to major corporations, Ivy League universities, and international rock stars. My passions include cooking, travel, and studying history, languages, psychology, and philosophy. I also have an unhealthy addiction to true crime shows and Nutella.
